NTMBA Member Challenge

As many of you know, it's not easy work to build trails and many times, new trail projects are delayed because of the hard manual labor involved. We are all very proud of what we have built and/or repaired in all of our area trail systems. We have volunteered and dedicated numerous hours to our trails, ensuring they are safe and sustainable for mountain bikers, hikers and others. Every year we see new faces and new possibilities that help grow the popularity and spark new interest in our trail systems.

This increase of trail use means we need to ensure these trails are built properly and also facilitates the need to create more trails.  Currently, members must prepare to hikefor miles, carrying numerous tools in anticipation to what is needed for repair. This results in trail care that can take days or even weeks to complete. Meanwhile, many other trails are waiting to be created and/or repaired, which could lead to unsafe trails.

s800tx_0065_cob_web.jpgThe S800 TX Vermeer Track Loader will provide analternative solution to manual labor bringing a range of attachments into confined and weight sensitive work areas, giving added versatility and expertise to accomplish our projects.

As you can imagine, a quality machine like this can be quite costly. We have commitments to fund two-thirds of the cost, which leaves around $10,000 needed to complete the purchase. Although we will still need some large donations for the purchase (and a strategic plan to do so), the trail begins with you, NTMBA members and other mountain bikers and hikers in our area. We don't expect thousands from an individual, but any amount of money you can donate is welcomed and greatly appreciated. Just $10 per member or family can really add up.

Thank you all for the time you give to mountain biking and trails in Northeast Tennessee!
